Man stabbed after firing gun at partygoer in Volusia County Sunday morning

Deputies are investigating a violent altercation that occurred early Sunday morning at a house party on Flamingo Road in Oak Hill, authorities said.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident began around 1:42 a.m. when a man at the party fired a gun at another attendee. The shot missed its target, and the intended victim charged at the shooter, stabbing him in the stomach.

The shooter, identified as 23-year-old Nicholas Gant, was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where his condition remains unknown.

Detectives are on the scene, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses to determine what led to the altercation. 

According to officials, Gant has been charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, due to a grazing gunshot wound on the victim's head.
