Orange County deputy arrested on domestic violence charge in Polk County, official say
ORLANDO, Fla. - An Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputy was arrested on a domestic violence charge Sunday, authorities said.
Deputy James Waters, was taken into custody by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office on December 15, 2024.
Waters faces a charge of battery, domestic violence.
He has been relieved of all law enforcement duties and reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of the criminal case, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) said.
Waters, a member of the agency’s Uniform Patrol Division since May 2018, will also be the subject of an internal investigation by OCSO once the criminal case is resolved.
"I have a zero-tolerance policy toward domestic violence," Mina said in a statement. "These allegations will be thoroughly investigated, and the results will be made public. At the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, we are committed to ensuring that those who serve the community as deputies follow the laws they are responsible to uphold."
The case remains under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
