Drug dealer charged in fentanyl overdose death in Orange County
ORLANDO, Fla. - A 28-year-old man has been charged in connection with the overdose death of a 49-year-old man, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO).
Daquan Jaques Brown faces a felony charge of Death Caused by Unlawful Distribution of Fentanyl after investigators determined he sold the drugs that led to the death of 49-year-old Michael Thomas March in August 2023.
According to the OCSO, toxicology reports showed March had fentanyl, cocaine, and mitragynine, a compound found in some opioid-like substances, in his system at the time of his death.
"Drug dealers, consider this a warning," the OCSO said in a post on X. "If you sell deadly fentanyl in our community, we will do everything we can to put you behind bars—and keep you there."
Brown’s arrest is part of an ongoing effort by law enforcement to hold drug dealers accountable amid a surge in fentanyl-related deaths across the state and the country.
