LOOK UP: Orionid meteor shower peaks tonight
TAMPA, Fla. - The annual Orionid meteor shower is expected to peak late Thursday night into Friday.
The meteor shower is caused by pieces of Halley's Comet hitting our atmosphere.
Peak viewing could mean 20 meteors an hour to upwards of as many as 80-90 meteors per hour.
The meteor shower can be seen from October 2 to Nov. 27, but the peak viewing is during the evening of Oct. 20 into the morning of Oct. 21.
The best way to watch it is to get as far away from artificial lights as possible, get comfortable, and look north toward the Orion constellation for the cosmic show.
