Mount Dora traffic stop leads to drug seizure

A traffic stop by Mount Dora Police Friday night leads to multiple charges and a drug seizure, according to the Department's social media page.

The post states officers conducted a traffic stop after a vehicle ran a stop sign. During the stop, officers detected the smell of marijuana and conducted a search. 

Inside the vehicle, officers discovered 9.7 grams of marijuana, a large quantity of cash, three vials of THC oil, and an unknown pill. According to the post, the driver swallowed the unknown pill attempting to "evade accountability." 

The driver, whose name has not been released, was immediately detained and now faces multiple charges, including:
 

  •  Destruction of Evidence
  • Possession of THC Oil
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Mount Dora Police urge residents to report suspicious activity if they see suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
