Democrat takes another run at Florida House seat
With Rep. Mike La Rosa, R-St. Cloud, facing term limits in 2020, Kissimmee Democrat Barbara Cady is preparing to make another run at replacing him.
Cady, who lost to La Rosa in the Nov. 6 election, opened a campaign account last week to run in 2020 in House District 42, which is made up of parts of Osceola and Polk counties, according to the state Division of Elections website.
Cady is the third candidate who has opened an account to run for the seat, joining Kissimmee Democrat Victor Emanuel Sims and St. Cloud Republican Zane Christian Matter.
La Rosa is one of 20 House members who face term limits in 2020, though two of those lawmakers --- Rep. Halsey Beshears, R-Monticello, and Rep. Jared Moskowitz, D-Coral Springs --- are expected to leave early for jobs in Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis’ administration.
