1 dead, 1 hurt in crash on Florida Turnpike in Orange County, FHP says
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -
A man has died following a single-car crash in Orange County, the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reports.
The crash took place around 3:04 p.m. Monday on the Florida Turnpike exit ramp to Interstate 4 express lanes, troopers said.
According to an FHP report, the driver of a Mazda MX-5 was traveling northbound on the Florida Turnpike, approaching the exit ramp to I-4 express lanes at mile marker 259, when troopers said he began to change lanes toward the I-4 expressway entrance ramp and lost control.
As a result, the car struck a concrete wall barrier. FHP said the driver then overcorrected, hitting another concrete wall barrier, causing the car to overturn onto its roof.
The driver, identified as a 19-year-old man, died at the scene. The car's passenger, also a 19-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Both were from St. Cloud.
