Atlanta Braves extend Spring Training agreement with Disney's ESPN Wide World of Sports complex

The Atlanta Braves have extended their spring training agreement with Disney World through April 2019, delaying a move to Florida's Gulf Coast.

The Braves had planned to open their new $100 million complex in Sarasota County for spring training next year, but team officials said Wednesday that more time is needed to complete construction.

That means another spring at the Wide World of Sports complex near Orlando, where the Braves have trained since 1998. The teams does plan to hold its final spring home game in 2019 at the new 6,500-seat stadium as a prelude to moving their entire Florida operation, which will include extended spring training for minor league teams, a Gulf Coast League team and the Fall Instructional League.

The new facility will put the Braves much closer to other major league teams, cutting down on travel time during spring training.
