ORLANDO, Fla. - The Ocala Police Department, in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation, has launched a high-visibility enforcement operation targeting speeding and aggressive driving within city limits.
The initiative began this week and will continue through October 2025.
Additional officers will be assigned to traffic enforcement throughout the operation, which will run citywide, covering all days and hours.
The goal is to reduce speeding and aggressive driving to improve road safety.
The effort comes as national statistics highlight the dangers of speeding.
According to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s 2022 Traffic Safety Facts, speeding contributed to 12,151 fatal crashes nationwide that year, accounting for 29% of all traffic fatalities.
