Man pleads for life before fatal Lake County shooting
SORRENTO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Colin Shull says he heard loud arguing at the end of his driveway on Friday night and went out to see what it was. That's when it all happened.
Shull says that "six shots flew through the air -- all you could see is those bright lights. You just seen his body hit twice and he's asking help. 30 seconds to a minute later, that was it."
Shull went on to say that the man was pleading for his life before the shooting started. "He was asking for help, 'Please don't shoot, please don't shoot!' That was it. Six shots rang off and he asked for help one more time and silence from there."
Lake County deputies say the man had been banging on Levi Brent's door screaming for help. Brent said that he "screamed out, 'don't shoot me no more, don't shoot me no more!' A few seconds later, I could hear the sound like the guy was running and beating on the door like 'let me in, let me in."
Scared of also getting shot, Brent called deputies instead. Deputies found the man lying here on the steps. They gave him what help they could and brought him to Waterman Hospital, but he was pronounced dead.
Shull says that now everyone is looking over their shoulders. "I'm kinda scared to walk around here at night. My girlfriend says she's not walking here anytime at night time soon."
The sheriff's office say this is an open investigation.
