Man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman on trial

SANFORD, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Jury selection has begun in Seminole County for the trial of a man accused of shooting at George Zimmerman.

Matt Apperson is facing attempted second-degree murder charges for shooting into Zimmerman’s truck last year during a road rage incident in Lake Mary.  

Apperson has said he did fire the gun at Zimmerman in May of 2015, but only after Zimmerman showed his weapon and threatened to kill Apperson as they drove side-by-side along Lake Mary Blvd.

Attorneys for both sides asked potential jurors questions relating to Zimmerman, Second Amendment rights and the use of deadly force. 

Zimmerman is expected to take the stand for the state during the course of this trial, which should wrap up by the end of the week.
