Lost Florida cat 'Flounder' found in surprising spot after weekend search
INDIAN HARBOR BEACH, Fla. - Flounder the cat proved his knack for adventure — and hiding — when he vanished over the weekend, only to be discovered in an unexpected place.
Melissa Lynch, Flounder’s owner, scoured her neighborhood for days, even enlisting the help of her dog during nightly runs. The 14-pound feline’s whereabouts remained a mystery until Lynch stopped by a nearby Dollar General and heard a familiar sound: meowing from under her car.
"I went inside, got a can of tuna to try and lure him out. Of course, he's incredibly stubborn," Lynch explained.
Despite her best efforts, Flounder refused to come out, prompting Lynch to call for backup from the Indian Harbor Beach Police Department.
"He's a 14 pound cat, so everyone was like kind of shocked that he was hiding in there," Lynch said.

Officers and a public works crew teamed up, ultimately lifting the car to find the stubborn cat nestled in a hidden compartment.
"He’s a little dirty but perfectly healthy," Lynch said, expressing gratitude for the community’s help.
The heartwarming rescue serves as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference this holiday season, Lynch said.
"They're inspiring me to go out in my community and to do things to help," she added.
