LA mom paints car to help find kidney donor for daughter
PASADENA, CA (FOX 11) - Karol Franks has tried every way imaginable to try to find a matching kidney donor for her daughter, and her latest attempt has gone viral. Karol is the mother of 29-year-old Jenna Franks, who was diagnosed with a rare urological disease that destroyed her kidneys when she was only 15 years old.
Karol has been using social media in hopes of finding a match, even creating a Facebook page just to help in the search for a proper donor, using the hashtag #kidneyforjenna. They even uploaded a YouTube video back in 2012, posted flyers around Pasadena, designed t-shirts, and put up ads on Craigslist.
Last week, Karol painted a sign on the back of the family's SUV saying, "DAUGHTER NEEDS KIDNEY TYPE O" along with her email address kidney4jenna@gmail.com.
Twitter user Tatum Bateman posted a photo of Karol's SUV on the streets on LA on September 27th, saying "This honestly needs to go viral," and 9,000 retweets and 4,0000 favorites later, it has.
The family hopes that with all this attention, a match will come soon.
