Kissimmee police warn of skimmers at gas pumps

The Kissimmee Police Department, in conjunction with the Florida Department of Agriculture, will be conducting a safety sweep of all the gas stations within the city limits after a high-tech skimming device was found on pumps at a station.

During a routine inspection of the gas pumps last week, at the 7-Eleven located at 51 West Vine Street, an employee located a suspected skimming device installed inside one of the pumps and contacted law enforcement.

The Department is urging citizens who may have visited that location to monitor their bank accounts.  Any fraudulent charges should be reported to the financial institution immediately.   The Kissimmee Police Department recommends you use a designated credit card, preferably one with a chip and pin, for gas purchases or use cash. It is also recommended that you utilize pumps that are closest to the front door of the establishment.
