Teen shot, killed after gunmen open fire on group at Sanford apartments in 'targeted' attack: police
SANFORD, Fla. - A teenager has died after being shot by two people in a "targeted" attack at a Sanford apartment complex Sunday evening, authorities said.
A spokesperson for the Sanford Police Department identified the teen killed as 16-year-old Jamarcus Parker.
Shortly after 5:45 p.m., officers received a report of a shooting at the Stratford Point Apartments located on Old England Loop.
When they arrived, they found Parker in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.
Investigators said Parker was hanging out with a group of friends in the complex's parking lot when he was gunned down by two people he possibly knew.
The two unknown gunmen arrived at the complex in a burgundy Kia, got out of the vehicle, approached the group and began shooting. After firing a number of rounds, they got back into the vehicle and left the area, police said.
Police are looking for the two gunmen accused of killing 16-year-old Jamarcus Parker in a targeted attack at a Sanford apartment complex Sunday evening.
Officers believe Parker was the intended victim and that the shooting was an isolated incident.
Police said they have identified the vehicle of interest and the registered owner, but said the case remains active and ongoing.
Authorities are asking anyone who may have witnessed or captured video of the incident to contact the Sanford Police Department or Crimeline at 800 423-TIPS (8477).
