Firefighter recovering after being struck by lightning
MELBOURNE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - They are normally the ones responding to emergencies, but a firefighter in Brevard County was the one who needed help, after being struck by lightning.
The firefighter was hit near the Melbourne International Airport at the fire station off of Tower Access Road. The incident happened Monday afternoon after the firefighter and his crew had just returned from a call. Authorities said the firefighter was walking into the building when he was struck by the bolt.
The extent of his injuries was not immediately known, but after a trip to the hospital, was later permitted to leave.
