Carjacking suspect arrested following multi-vehicle crash

A carjacking suspect has been arrested following a crash near Interstate 95 and U.S. Highway 1 in Volusia County.

"He must have walked across into the woods, into the street, saw an opportunity, and jumped into the car," Losey said.

Losey said the victim is a nice guy. He said he visits the gas station daily to feed stray cats.

"He wished he never left the car unlocked and running and stuff because it’s an easy getaway," Losey explained.

According to the sheriff’s office, after the crash, the suspect got out of the car and ran into the woods, where K-9 deputies tracked him down. He is now in custody. His identity has not yet been released.
