Bystander fights for his life after shooting at Lake Mary town center

Police lights flooded the early morning darkness at Seminole County's upscale Colonial Town Park shopping center. Robin Lefebris, who lives there, said the overnight shooting had her and her husband leaping out of their beds.

“I heard three or four loud booms, which I unfortunately - because it's so close to July 4th - thought was firecrackers,” Lefebris said, “but my husband woke up at the same time and said no, that was a gunshot!”

Deputies originally reported that two groups of guys got into an argument at the Graffiti Junction bar and restaurant, and the management kicked them out. They all walked toward the nearby movie theater. That's when police say a man in one of the groups pulled out a gun and fired several shots. However, they later reported that it did not occur at Graffiti Junction, but at the Colonial Town Park Shopping Center parking lot.

A man from the other group was hit, he was taken to the hospital where he died. Another one of the bullets hit a bystander who was at a nearby restaurant. He went to the hospital in critical condition. People here say the bars can get rowdy at night, but they've never seen it like this.

“There's a few fights, here and there but - again - nothing to this extreme,” said Tony Biondo.

“We love the area... it can happen anywhere,” Lefebris added.

Deputies are trying to figure out what the men were arguing about, and what led up to the shooting. Two suspects were being questioned, but no charges filed yet.
