Burglary suspect caught climbing through ceiling

DELAND, Fla. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - Authorities caught a suspected would-be burglar in the ceiling of a DeLand-area pharmacy early Wednesday morning.

DeLand officers were called to Florida Healthcare building, at 937 N. Spring Garden Ave., by a cleaning service staff member who reported suspicious activity.

Officers arrived with a K-9 officer to search the scene. At some point, they heard noises from above and began busting through some ceiling tiles to reveal two feet dangling. The officers call out the man, telling him to get down. 

The suspect, identified as 29-year-old Tommy Lee Gately, was arrested and charged with burglary of a structure or conveyance, criminal mischief and possession of marijuana over 20 grams.
