Semi bursts into flames, shutting down EB lanes of the eastbound S.R. 528
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - One eastbound lane of the beachline is still shut down after a semi-truck burst into flames near Dallas Boulevard on Thursday.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says that the semi-truck was loaded with wooden doors and traveling eastbound on S.R. 528. For an unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway, striking a guardrail. The vehicle overturned and caught fire. The driver was able to exit the vehicle.
No one was hurt and no other vehicles were involved. Traffic however was backed up for miles, from the daylight hours into the night.
The charred remains of the semi-truck stretches across both lanes. FHP says that the right lane of eastbound S.R. 528 has since re-opened at Innovation Way and through the crash scene. The left lane will remain closed for repairs until fully repaired. Once that is done, the left lane will open and the right lane will close for repairs. They expect the roadway to be fully repaired by 3 a.m.
