Get ready for the second annual Battle of the Badges soccer match! On Saturday, September 12, the Orlando Fire Department will face off against the Orlando Police Department at Inter&Co Stadium. A Kissimmee resident is honoring those who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. Kathy Reidy created a 9/11 memorial with 2,977 flags.

In August 2001, Jose Melendez-Perez, a former immigration inspector at Orlando International Airport, prevented a man from entering the United States during a secondary screening. Officials alleged that man was flying to the U.S. to meet with organizers of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, and have since labeled him as the would-be "20th hijacker."

The Winter Garden Police Department is offering a $10,000 reward for information that can help solve a shooting homicide. On Aug. 19, Shariff Simmons was found dead inside a home. Prior to the shooting, Simmons and others were playing a card game, officials said. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
