K-9 Pyro back on the job after being stabbed several times
GREEN BAY, Wis. (FOX 35 ORLANDO) - A police K-9 is back on the job after being stabbed multiple times while on duty.
K-9 Pyro works with the Green Bay Police Department in Wisconsin. The police dog has been recovering for the past couple of weeks after he ews stabbed multiple times during a weapons call earlier this month.
Pyro underwent several surgeries for his carotid artery, esophagus, stomach and neck. On Monday, the police department held a news conference for Pyro where he made his public debut.
“The one trauma kit we had at the time was in Scott Salzmann's car. The fact that he knew how to use it and took quick action clearly saved Pyro's life that day," Chief Andrew Smith said. "Taking him to the right place and eventually bringing him down there was again, the right move.”
Pyro will be on light-duty while he continues to heal.
The suspect accused of stabbing Pyro is being held on $10,000 bond.
