Van swallowed by sinkhole during Hurricane Irma

During the height of  Hurricane Irma, a man was driving a van through a Winter Springs apartment complex when the earth opened up.

David Glenn drove from Sanford to the Astor Park apartment complex to help his girlfriend and her small child prepare for the storm. He made it to the complex without any problem and turned into the parking lot.  That's when things got scary.

"I turn to go to her section, and all of a sudden, the road collapsed," said Glenn. "I had to pull on the rails with my hand. That is how ended up cutting my hand. I was able to get myself positioned behind the wheel well and continuously punched the window, until it popped out. I was able to get out."

Glenn said he was "feeling very lucky," that he got out without serious injury or death.
