Two killed after car crashes into Semi

Two people were killed after their car collided with a semi and caught fire in Ocala Friday afternoon. 

Firefighters were called to the 2000 block of NE 14th Street just after 4 p.m. As they approached a black column of smoke was clearly visible from the accident scene. 

Firefighters say once they arrived they found the a Pontiac pinned under the cab of a semi-truck which was on fire. The fire started after the truck's saddle tank was ruptured in the crash. 

The truck driver was able to get out of the cab after impact firefighters say, but they were not able to remove the passengers in the Pontiac before the fuel help spread the fire, killing both the driver and the passenger of teh vehicle. 

Local EMS did transport the truck driver to the hospital. The identity of the two victims have not been released at this point.
