Scaffolding collapse at Downtown Orlando building

Firefighters with the Orlando Fire Department on Thursday responded to a report of a hanging scaffolding platform at the Vue high-rise complex, at 150 East Robinson Street.

Three painters were working on the side of the high-rise building, when the motor on one side of the scaffolding became locked up, forcing the platform to become vertical. The workers were able to climb to a balcony near the 14th floor.

Firefighters were able to conduct a high-angle operation, lowering a rescuer down to secure the scaffolding and bring it to the bottom of the building.

One person was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center with a minor injury from jumping onto the balcony.
