Orange County Sheriff's deputies say Soto got the child alone in his classroom and touched the child inappropriately.
They say that child told friends what happened and those friends told school officials.
The school's website says Soto was a 5th grade teacher at Castle Creek.
After his arrest, Orange County Schools put him on administrative leave.
Soto is charged with lewd or lascivious molestation of a child. His next court appearance will be a pre-trial hearing on June 11.
