Murder-for-hire suspects indicted
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - Three Osceola suspects, accused of killing the wrong person in a murder-for-hire plot, have been indicted on first-degree murder charges.
Deputies say Ishnar Lopez-Ramos, hired Alexis Ramos-Rivera and his girlfriend Glorianmarie Quinones-Montes to kill a woman who was allegedly dating a man with whom Lopez-Ramos was in love. Instead, they killed the wrong woman, Janice Zengotita-Torres. She was a wife and mother.
State Attorney Aramis Ayala says a panel will decide if the suspects get the death penalty.
"As a result of the indictment on first-degree murder, that does make it eligible for the death penalty, so the case now has been sent to the death penalty review panel," Ayala said. "They will review it, and we will up date you all when there's a finding."
Ayala could not say how long it will take the death penalty review panel to decide.
