Girl, 16, accused of school shooting threats

A 16-year-old Florida high school student was arrested on Wednesday and faces charges related to making threats of a school shooting.

The student, who attends Lyman High School in Altamonte Springs, is accused of making threats to students at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School, which is also located in Altamonte Springs.

A police officer who works on-campus at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic School was notified by school staff of a threat made to some of their students.  The Altamonte Springs Police Department responded  and made contact with several students who said they witnessed the conversation via a text messaging group.

Detectives said they were able to link the message to the Lyman High School student.  She was taken into custody and transported to the Seminole County Juvenile Assessment Center for processing.

The teen is charged with written threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting
