Deadly house fire in Osceola County
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - One person died inside a house Tuesday in Kissimmee. The fire marshal and homicide detectives are expected to investigate late into the evening to figure out exactly what happened.
This video, shot on a neighbor’s cell phone, shows just how serious the fire was. It left one person dead after it broke out on Carlisle Court in Kissimmee shortly after 4:15 p.m.
Neighbors and family members were trying to get in to save the person inside when sheriff’s deputies arrived,” but the fire was out of control and obviously they couldn't gain entry,” said Capt. Jacob Ruiz of the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
Luis Torres was one of the neighbors who tried to help.
“I ran to my mom's house to try to get an extinguisher. When I was running toward the house, I heard an explosion,” said Torres.
The fire is believed to have started in the garage. Officials are not yet identifying the victim at this time.
“We need to make sure that they're okay and really be there for them during this hard time,” said Capt. Ruiz.
But neighbors tell Fox 35 it’s a wife and mother.
“I know her. She’s my neighbor. She's a good person, a good neighbor. She and her husband. It's a bad situation for the whole neighborhood,” said Torres.
Officials say the rest of the family is okay, but the damage is too severe for them to stay in the home tonight.
