Man killed when Florida sheriff's deputy crashes into truck
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say a 34-year-old man who was stopped at a red light in central Florida died when a sheriff's deputy crashed into his pickup truck.
Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Kim Montes said in an email that Osceola County Sheriff's Deputy Gloria Boccio failed to stop as she approached the intersection on Friday morning. Her cruiser crashed into the pickup truck, which hit two other cars stopped at the light.
Montes said the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital, where he died. Boccio suffered minor injuries and the other drivers weren't hurt.
Montes said the cause of the crash is under investigation. Osceola County Sheriff Russ Gibson said Deputy Boccio is on paid administrative leave while the incident is investigated.
