Fire at Bayview hotel in Daytona Beach
Daytona Beach, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) - On Friday morning, several engines from the Daytona Beach Fire Department responded to the Bayview hotel in Daytona Beach for a structure fire.
The fire was located and contained to the boiler room located at the rear of the building, officials say.
Thirty-six occupants that were staying at the hotel were evacuated and no one was injured.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly; however, the boiler room was determined to be a total loss with an estimated damage of $50,000.
At approximately 7:50 a.m., the fire reignited and active structure fire began again.
Firefighters have so far been able to successfully contain the fire to one building and keep it from spreading to the adjacent buildings.
The Red Cross in on scene assisting those affected by the fire, providing them food and water, and eventually will organize temporary living arrangements for those needing it.
