1 dead, 1 injured in head-on collision
ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL) - One person is dead and another person is injured after two vehicles collided head-on in Orlando.
Orlando Police Department received a call for a two-vehicle crash in the 1800 block of Mercy Dr. right before 3 a.m. Friday morning.
Upon arrival officers saw the crash involved a small passenger vehicle and a large delivery truck.
The female driver of the small vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene. The male driver of the large delivery truck was transported to a nearby hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators tell FOX 35 that the preliminary investigation appears this was a head-on collision and speed could be a contributing factor.
Mercy Dr. between Princeton and New Hampshire is closed and will be for several hours as Orlando Police Traffic Homicide Unit investigates the crash.
The closure could affect the morning commute for those who live in or travel through the general area of Mercy Dr, said police.
Drivers are advised to seek alternate routes.
