Gulf system to bring heavy rain, wind gusts

Looking ahead to this weekend, a potent low-pressure system out of the Gulf of Mexico will threaten Florida with heavy rain, wind, and the potential for severe weather.

Breezy and cloudy conditions are expected to continue overnight into Thursday. There will be similar weather in the next couple of days with a gusty NE wind and more clouds than the sun. Rain chances will remain isolated at best with higher chances near the NE coast. Lows overnight will fall into the low 60s with highs the next two afternoons into the low 70s.

Tonight's low: 62 degrees | Tomorrow's high: 74 degrees

BEACHES: It will be cloudy with increasing breezes at the beach on Thursday. Surf will continue building into the 3-5' range as seas and surf respond to an increase in Northeast breezes.

THEME PARKS: The theme parks will see mostly cloudy skies and breezy conditions.

OUTLOOK: Looking ahead to this weekend, a potent low-pressure system out of the Gulf of Mexico will threaten Florida with heavy rain, wind, and the potential for severe weather.

Latest models indicate conditions will deteriorate Saturday afternoon and remain impactful through Sunday morning. Rain totals will range from 2-5" with some isolated higher totals. Flooding will be possible. Winds will also be very gusty, with inland areas ranging from 30-40 mph and areas along the coast in the 40-55 mph range.

This system is not considered a tropical storm as sea surface temperatures are too cold. Regardless, impacts will remain similar to a tropical system with gusty winds, heavy rain, and coastal flooding/erosion. Keep with the FOX 35 Storm Team for more updates as we approach the event this weekend.
