Earthquakes rock Caribbean

UCF Geology Professor Joseph Donoghue said the recent earthquakes in the Caribbean and the quakes in Puerto Rico over the last month are near a "left-lateral" strike slip fault, which means the North American and Caribbean plates meet slide against each other.

A major 7.7 earthquake blasted the Caribbean Tuesday afternoon.

This quake shook along the North American and Caribbean fault line at a depth of 6.2 miles.

There were no tsunami warnings issued due to the depth of the quake.

The center of the quake was 467 miles south of Miami, where buildings did shake.

The quake was felt as far north as Daytona Beach.
