Horse racing advocates fear bill could doom industry
A House committee on Monday is set to discuss HB 105, which would get rid of the requirement for Florida thoroughbred tracks -- Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs -- to run a certain number of live races in order to operate casinos. Damon Thayer, a former longtime Kentucky state lawmaker and the senior adviser for the Thoroughbred Racing Initiative, a group formed to oppose the legislation, joined FOX 35 News+ to talk about concerns with the bill.
