Grizzly bear cubs found on Florida roadside
An Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy wasn’t expecting what she found when answering a mid-morning call last month. A man had spotted two bear cubs on the side of Old River Road and said they didn’t appear to be our common Northwest Florida black bears. It turned out they were Kodiak cubs, a unique subspecies of the brown or grizzly bears that are native to the islands of the Kodiak Archipelago in Southern Alaska.
