Whale stranded at Flagler Beach on Florida's Atlantic Coast dies
A whale that became stranded on a Florida beach Friday afternoon has died. The whale, which measured approximately 15 feet in length and weighed an estimated 3,000 pounds, had beached itself in Flagler Beach multiple times as rescuers attempted to pull it back into the water. Several onlookers covered the whale in wet towels while team members from the Hubbs-SeaWorld Research Institute (HSWRI), a non-profit research organization, assessed the health of the mammal.
