Tropical Storm Ophelia forms

Tropical Storm Ophelia formed off the Atlantic Coast on Friday but it is heading away from Florida. Another tropical system far out in the Atlantic shows signs of becoming more organized over the next week. The next named storm system will be Philippe.

Potential Tropical Cyclone 16's impact

The National Hurricane Center has issued tropical storm warnings and storm surge watches for parts of the United States' East Coast, as Potential Tropical Cyclone 16 formed east of Florida in the Atlantic Ocean.

Subtropical system could form near Florida

An area of non-tropical low pressure is forecast to form off the east coast of Florida/ SE U.S. later this week. This system could acquire some subtropical characteristics this weekend if it remains offshore and draws closer to the Carolinas over the weekend. Coastal impacts along central Florida and the southeastern US are likely.

Tropical system could develop near Florida

Nigel is now a Category 2 hurricane but poses no threat to Florida. The FOX 35 Storm Team is also monitoring a system off the African Coast which could show further development. Closer to us, a system has the potential of forming of Florida's Atlantic Coast this weekend.

Hurricane Nigel is churning in the Atlantic Ocean but will have little impact on Florida. However, there is the possibility of a low-pressure system developing off Florida's East Coast this weekend.

Hurricane Nigel to rapidly intensify

Hurricane Nigel formed in the Atlantic and is forecast to rapidly intensify into a major hurricane on Tuesday, the National Hurricane Center said in its advisory Monday morning.

Hurricane Lee to bring dangerous surf

The FOX 35 Storm Team is monitoring Hurricane Lee and distant Hurricane Margot. Lee will head north by mid-week and will need to be watch closely for areas along the Northeast and Canada. Lee will bring dangerous surf all week peaking by Thursday with surf up to 7-8 feet at its highest.

Hurricane Lee to ramp up to Cat. 4 status

The National Hurricane Center is monitoring Hurricane Lee which is expected to reach major Category 4 status -- again - on Tuesday, the latest advisory shows.
