The FOX 35 Storm Team is monitoring two tropical systems in the Atlantic Ocean that are being impacted by wind shear. Tropical Storm Philippe is expected to strengthen into a Category 1 hurricane, while what was once Tropical Storm Rina has been downgraded to a tropical depression.

Tracking the Tropics: Latest on Philippe, Rina

Tropical storms Philippe and Rina are churning in the open Atlantic Ocean. Philippe is forecast to move slowly and remain east of the Northern Leeward Islands during the next few days. Rina is moving toward the northwest and is expected to turn more westward.

Tropical Storm Philippe continues to track west across the Atlantic Ocean. Behind it is a second tropical wave that has the potential to become better organized.

Tropical Storm Ophelia forms

Tropical Storm Ophelia formed off the Atlantic Coast on Friday but it is heading away from Florida. Another tropical system far out in the Atlantic shows signs of becoming more organized over the next week. The next named storm system will be Philippe.
