Inside Hurricane Helene: Hundreds of lightning strikes

The @403rdWingAir Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters flew into, through, and above Hurricane Helene as it rapidly intensified across the Gulf of Mexico, before making landfall as a Category 4 hurricane over Florida's Big Bend region. The Hunters shared video of what Hurricane Helene looked like at night. Dozens, if not hundreds, of lightning flashes appear in video shared.

Hurricane Helene tosses boats near Florida coast

Hurricane Helene didn't make landfall near Tampa or St. Petersburg, but storm surge and wind from Helene still did a number on Florida's Gulf coast. Video from the City of Treasure Island showed several damaged boats along the Treasure Island Causeway. Several large boats were thrown into homes.

Hurricane Helene damage: Sarasota County storm surge

St. Armands Key and Lido Key in Sarasota County, Florida experienced significant flooding and storm surger as Hurricane Helene made its way up the Gulf coast. Drone video shared by Sarasota Police Department shows the extensive flooding in St. Armands Key.

Roof wrapped around pole after Hurricane Helene pummels Florida

FOX 35's Manny Martinez is in Taylor County, Florida, not far from where Hurricane Helene made landfall as a Category 4 storm on Thursday night, looking at the damage in wake of the storm's powerful force. Helene made landfall about 10 miles from Perry, Florida. Manny found part of a church's roof about a block away, including a piece that was clearly wrapped around a power pole.
