Seminole High student shot 3 times recovering after surgery, family says

The suspect in a shooting at Sanford's Seminole High School, 16-year-old Da'raveius Smith, is facing numerous charges, including first-degree attempted murder. Police said he brought a gun into the school and shot 18-year-old student Jhavon McIntyre three times. McIntyre was transported to Central Florida Regional Hospital where he underwent surgery.

Police ID suspect in shooting at Seminole High School in Sanford

Seminole High School began the dismissal process for the main campus in Sanford just before 3 p.m. following a shooting incident that prompted the school to be placed on a lockdown. Earlier in the day, a student was shot inside the school and a suspect was taken into custody, authorities said. Investigators are calling this an isolated incident.

Supreme Court rejects request to block federal air travel mask mandate

The Supreme Court Tuesday denied an emergency request asking for a pause to the federal COVID-19 airline mask mandate. The case was filed by Florida father Michael Seklecki and his 4-year-old son who is autistic who cannot tolerate wearing masks but must fly to Boston Children’s Hospital in Massachusetts for regular medical care.
