Florida wildlife officials think feeding helps manatees

State wildlife experts say they think efforts to feed lettuce to starving manatees in the Indian River Lagoon are showing signs of providing relief after a record number of deaths last year of the sea cows.

Congressman pushes to re-establish manatees as 'endangered'

Florida’s manatee population continues to dwindle at an alarming rate, and Congressman Vern Buchanan says he will push for a new law that will change the classification of manatees from "threatened" to "endangered."
