ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - Two days after a 9-year-old swimmer went missing along the coast of St. Pete Beach, deputies say they have apparently found his body.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office says Cameron J. Bullard was last seen around 3:20 Saturday afternoon at St. Pete Beach near the 18th Avenue beach access.
Patrol deputies, Pinellas Marine Units, the U.S. Coast Guard, and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation set out to search for the child by air, water, and on land, but after a day of searching, deputies said Sunday that they believed Cameron -- who could not swim -- was in knee-deep water when he was swept away by a current and drowned.
The search continued through the weekend and into Monday morning, when divers said they found the body of a child on the north tip of Shell Key Preserve. They believe it is Cameron.
The boy's family has been notified, though the medical examiner will have to make the official identification.
