Woman carjacked at gunpoint with baby in backseat

Osceola County Deputies want the public’s help finding a man who pulled a gun on a woman and demanded she give up her car while her baby was inside.

Deputies were called to the Emerald Island Resort Tuesday morning just before 9 am on a call of a carjacking.

The victim at the scene told deputies that a man had approached her vehicle after appearing to flee a different vehicle that had just been involved in a wreck.

The woman said the man asked to use her phone and when she suggested he go ask at the clubhouse, deputies said the suspect reached into the car and tried to open the door. Cops said the man then pulled a gun, pointed it at the woman and told her and her passenger to get out.

Officers said the suspects allowed the woman to get her infant out of the car before he and a female accomplice got in and took off.

Deputies found the vehicle a short time later, wrecked, about 30 minutes away in the parking lot of a Hunter’s Creek strip mall.

Witnesses in the area claimed to have encountered a man who seemed frantic and asked them for a ride before running away as if he was fleeing trouble.

Deputies were able to locate the female suspect in the area and arrested Amber Dangerfield on several charges. They said, as of Tuesday, the male suspect was still missing.

Anyone with information that could help lead to the suspect is asked to contact the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.
