Weather delays possible at Orlando International Airport on Wednesday

ORLANDO, Fla. - Flights at Orlando International Airport were delayed Wednesday as a large band of showers and storms moved through the area.

At least 23 departing flights out of Orlando's MCO airport were delayed during the time that storms were moving through the area, according to the airport's website. The FAA has implemented an airspace flow restriction – essentially reducing the number of flights into and out of Florida – due to the thunderstorms.

According to the FAA's website, some flights could have been delayed up to 3 hours.

Around 5 p.m. the severe weather threat anticipated by these storms ended as a thunderstorm warning was allowed to expire.

"Due to weather conditions, airline operations may be impacted - flight/baggage delivery delays may occur. Please check with your airline directly for any updates regarding their operations," MCO said on social media.
