Watch for road closures between Orange and Garland Avenue
ORLANDO, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Some road closures in downtown Orlando could bring trouble to your morning commute.
Colonial Drive is currently open, but traffic cones are still near it, confusing drivers. For the past few nights, it has been closed for crews to install cables and trusses for the new pedestrian bridge in downtown.
The closure is between Orange Avenue and Garland Avenue.
The rainy weather over the weekend affected the installation over the weekend, so the work on the overpass bridge is not done yet.
Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) officials say that this area will close again on Monday night at 10 p.m. It will re-open Tuesday morning at 5 a.m. Drivers will have to use Orange Blossom Trail as a detour to get on and off I-4 in that area.
You want to make sure you keep our eye out for detour signs, as the closure will affect your commute in this area. Detour signs are posted along this area.
Once the entire project is complete, a new quarter mile bridge will help pedestrians connect between the Orlando Urban Trail and Gertrdue's Walk.
