DISTRICT HEIGHTS, MD - Ever do something that seemed like a fun idea at the time? This man decided to take an illegal ATV joyride through the public streets. Then, to run through all the stunts- the “can can,” the “stand up wheelie,” the “no hands,” and the classic “taunting a police officer.”
He cut off the officer’s vehicle and zipped around all while his accomplice filmed. Then he posted the video to Instagram. So now you’ve seen him, and so have the police- who were able to identify him and issue warrants.
The driver and the cameraman are facing multiple charges including reckless and negligent driving- among other traffic violations.
The incident ended safely, due to Prince George Country’s “no chase” policy. Giving chase could inadvertently create more hazards to the public.
Police don’t need to pursue the reckless drivers to catch them- not when they have video evidence. It’s best to keep these vehicles off the streets- where they’re safer for the driver- and the public.
