VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (FOX 35 WOFL) - Volusia County schools are practicing school safety with an active shooter drill on Thursday.
Schools throughout the district will hold an active shooter drill on Thursday. Students in high schools and middle schools will be shown a video on what to do in the event of an emergency. Elementary school children will not watch this video.
The drills are happening after a teen was arrested for bringing a gun to a school in Port Orange. Police found the weapon in the 17-year-old's backpack at Atlantic High School.
