DOTHAN, Ala. - It was an encounter caught on camera between an Alabama commissioner and a reporter, but it wasn't the line of questioning that got the city official in trouble, but rather how he responded to it.
The Dothan Eagle reported that Dothan Commissioner Amos Newsome was arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with assault after striking a local television reporter twice in the face.
The 82-year-old elected official was being questioned by WTVY reporter Ken Curtis about voter fraud allegations connected to his 2013 election when the incident happened.
Blood could be seen coming from Curtis' face after the attack.
Newsome was later released on bond.
