USPS facility races to handle holiday rush
The holiday rush is here, and FOX 35 got a behind-the-scenes look at the U.S. Postal Service's Seminole Processing and Distribution Center as they work to bring packages on time.
SANFORD, Fla. - The holiday rush is here, and FOX 35 got a behind-the-scenes look at the U.S. Postal Service's Seminole Processing and Distribution Center as they work to bring packages on time.
The holidays are around the corner, and it’s the busiest time of year for the USPS. The facility processes about 400,000 packages a day during the busy holiday season.
Employees at the Seminole Processing and Distribution Center are working extra hours to keep up with the demand.
"Really, really busy. A lot of mail. Overtime working, it’s just crazy," said employee Angela Franjul. "Everyone’s trying to get their packages on time. So, just got to work hard, work together, and make sure everything goes out on time."
"It’s very busy. Words cannot describe how busy it is," added Executive Plant Manager Lisa Lake.

As part of the Delivering for America 10-year plan, the US Postal Service has added new high-speed package sorting machines, increased daily processing capacity, and added seasonal employees.
Holiday packages and gifts need to be in the mail or shipped soon to arrive before Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, or other holiday traditions:
- USPS Ground Advantage Service: Dec. 18
- First-Class Mail: Dec. 18
- Priority Mail: Dec. 19
- Priority Express Mail Service: Dec. 21
